Nick and Bailey tied the knot at the historic Dousman House in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, the Dousman House served as a luxury hotel in the late 1800’s. Due to economic hardship, the building was forced to close its doors and was succumbed to years of neglect and rumored demolition.
Bailey spent many summers in Prairie du Chien with her family. They would pass by the Dousman House every time they took the boat out. Her and her mom kept a close eye on the derelict home, agreeing that it would make the perfect wedding venue, if it were ever to be restored. As luck would have it, the Dousman House was fully renovated a few years back, and now functions as an elegant wedding and reception hall.
The classy wedding day began in the bridal suite of a nearby hotel where Bailey and her entourage spent the morning getting ready. With the cutest set of matching PJ’s, they sipped on mimosas and collectively fawned over the beautiful bride as they got their hair and makeup done. Everyone in the room was on cloud nine with the anticipation of seeing their girl marry the love of her life!
Once all of the final touches had been made, it was time for Bailey’s big debut. She stepped out of the bridal suite all dressed in white and revealed herself to her eager bridesmaids. With nothing but smiles and hugs all around, the excitement grew even more for the soon-to-be Clasen’s.
After that, we had one more stop before meeting Nick. Bailey wanted to do a first-look with her dad, who had the sweetest, most tender reaction upon seeing her. Immediately beaming with pride, it was such a special memory to have captured.
Finally, after hours of torturous anticipation, it was time for Bailey and Nick to meet. He had been patiently waiting for this moment the entire day, and couldn’t be more thrilled to see his bride. Let me tell you, the reaction did not disappoint!
As Nick turned around, you could see both of their built up anxieties melt away as the two of them embraced for the very first time. Just minutes away from saying, “I do,” they were so excited to be married and celebrate their union with family and friends.
The ceremony took place in the outdoor space of the venue. It was a gloomy, overcast day which brought an unexpected (but much appreciated) mood to the event. That, coupled with the live music (played by an old friend of Bailey’s) created an incredibly romantic ambiance as guests trickled their way in.
Walking arm-in-arm with her father, Bailey gracefully made her way down the aisle. The service was beautiful and filled with lovely remarks and sweet vows. There wasn’t a dry eye to be seen.
After the ceremony, we snuck away for a few bridal portraits before making our way inside. Family and friends gave heartfelt speeches, and then it was all party for the next 4 hours. This crew was ready for some cold drinks and a soiree on the dance floor. The energy in the room had everyone up and out of there seats, including Bailey’s mom and dad!
Nick and Bailey’s wedding day was definitely one for the books. Surrounded by love, support and happiness by everyone in attendance, it was an incredible day to say the least. I am so grateful to have had the honor of capturing their beautiful day and wish them all the best as they embark on the many adventures that await them.
